  After reading the previous reviews I felt a need to tell my experience with Thrifty. I found Thrifty to be friendly, courteous and very accommodating. I was also able to arrange a car using my NRMA membership to get a discount. I had a lovely man book the reservation for me. When I arrived at Thrifty I had a lovely young lady (Jess) assist me with arranging the pick up and assisting with drop off times and requirements. I actually returned my vehicle earlier than anticipated- but as I had misunderstood the daily rate - the refund advised was a lot less than I had expected. The lovely lady at the counter (Lani) went to her manager and without issue - they refunded me the full day. I would happily recommend Thrifty at GC Airport to any one who wished to hire a vehicle. They were brilliant.

  Booked on Expedia and never mentioned there or at airport about extra costs for exceeding 100km per day then charged credit card afterwards without notice. Not happy

  I would give zero stars if I could. When I arrived I mistakenly went to the Hertz counter instead of Thrifty and I really wished I had booked a car with Hertz because the attendant was so much friendlier and looked a lot more professional than what I faced at the Thrifty desk. No smile, no warm welcome and no patience. I was told only after being handed the keys that I had been 'upgraded'. How rude when it's not the car I had booked. I did NOT want an upgrade to a bigger car that is harder to park in tight spaces and not as fuel efficient as the smaller one I had wanted. It's very disrespectful to not seek my approval first. This ruined the start of my holiday because I had specifically booked a certain type of car for a reason. In addition, the unfriendly attendant was quick to grab my money but offered no maps or brochures. And while Thrifty supposedly offers a discount to automobile club members the prices of other rental companies are comparatively the same or cheaper without any membership so there is no benefit to choosing Thrifty. Most insulting was when I got into the car there was a "discount" voucher hanging on the rear view mirror for a free treat at a fast food outlet. When I looked at the date it had expired months earlier so it was worthless. The lesson is don't bother with this frugal company.

  I accidentally took my keys with me back to Perth from the Gold Coast. Thrifty has notified me that they will not charge me any extra for their inconvenience. Thrifty has also notified me that they will return my expensive headphones that I left in the car. I am very satisfied

  Absolutely shocking company to deal with! Fraudulently billed my credit card for extra kilometre charges that were not stated anywhere on the itinerary or the invoice. Terrible customer service and a flat out refusal to acknowledge that they are being misleading with their billing. Told me its not necessary for them to put all charges on the itinerary or invoice and made excuses by pointing me to a link deep on their website that says "extra charges may be incurred". It's more than misleading, its theft. I now have to contact and report them to the ACCC. Avoid doing business with them at all costs!
